Retainers
I have been extensively trained and am very experienced in the selection and fitting of your retainers. I will aim to offer the best expertise in this and all forms of treatment you may wish.
Retainers are crucial for maintaining the results of our crafted smiles, and I offer a range of options tailored to your lifestyle. From fixed to unfixed, plastic to wire, whole mouth to half mouth retainers, I aim to make post-braces retention hassle-free.
There are two primary types of retainers – fixed and removable. I will evaluate your needs and lifestyle to plan the most suitable type for you. For instance, Invisalign Vivera Removable retainers are included in our Invisalign package.
It's important not to eat or drink with your retainer in place. Regular cleaning with a toothbrush and lukewarm water (avoiding hot water) is recommended. Toothpaste or bleach should be avoided to prevent scratching and discoloration. "Retainer Brite" is a suitable cleaning option, available for purchase at our clinic or most pharmacies.
With a fixed retainer, a wire may be fitted to the back of your teeth, known as a bonded retainer.
Extra care is needed, and you should avoid hard, sticky, and crunchy foods. In case of a fixed retainer break, wear your removable retainer full-time and contact the practice promptly.
After the retainers are in place, you won't require frequent visits. I will assess them during your regular checkup appointments. Since retainers are costly to replace, it's essential to handle them with care. Keep them in a retainer box when not in use, and remember to bring them to all future appointments.
